While searching for “lace-up booties” a while ago on Etsy, I came accross this chartreuse suede pair from LoveItShop.
They were a tad impractical, the light-colored suede, the half-size too small… but being more than a tad impractical myself, I bought them. They were just too perfect to pass up: Acid yellow / chartreuse color; Victorian / Steampunk / 80s combo-mix; and the Miss Maud label*.
I was more than delighted when I got them a few days later, and I immediately wore them. Yes, they were a bit tight, and the insole came unstuck (a common problem I encounter with vintage shoes), but my love did not diminish, ever slightly.
I took them to get repaired, get the insoles glued back on and the heel tap replaced, and then got talked into replacing the soles. And a good idea that was!
Pavement will get pound in these: I have been wearing them ever since, and the suede has given a little, making them quite comfortable too. I get tons of compliments and even sometimes the occasional envious look. Thank god I got good karma points since 20% of the sale went to Save the Turtles!
